In this age of digital photography, Elly Knepper and Peter Voeten take their photos in a very primitive way. They use homemade cameras and “old-fashioned” film material as light traps. The cameras have no lens. The light is focused through a small hole (made in copper foil) and falls on the film. Because the aperture is f/200 in some cases, the film sometimes needs to be exposed for longer than 10 minutes. The special effects are achieved by a curved film surface and multiple exposure. The images are often dreamlike and somewhat surreal. The photos are presented on Dibond and in large format.
